Spanish police say they are looking for a missing Greater Manchester man who went missing in Majorca

Spanish police say they are searching for missing Briton Benjamin Ross after criticism from his worried mother.

Felix Robinson admitted he was “petrified” after the 26-year-old disappeared on July 10 in Mallorca’s capital, Palma. The trainee solicitor, from Wigan, Greater Manchester, had his phone and wallet stolen on a beach and then argued with flatmates shortly before he was last seen or heard from.

Felix, who is planning to fly to Mallorca in a desperate bid to find his beloved son, claimed that Palma police are under the impression that Ben’s case is not a police issue because he is an adult looking for time alone on the island. But the National Police in Palma insisted today in their first comments on the case they were looking for the missing Briton.

They said a homicide unit had been tasked with the search, although the sources were quick to point out that they had no information to suggest he had been killed and that it was common practice in Spain for these types of units to be tasked with the disappearance investigation. of adults.

A local court is believed to have been informed as well as part of the protocol procedure, as was the case with the disappearance of Jay Slater in Tenerife, before his body was found on Monday, 29 days after he disappeared in near the village of Masca.

A spokesman for the Mallorca National Police said: “We are aware of this disappearance and work is being done to find this man. That’s all we can say at this point.”

A well-placed source said: “The force’s Homicide Unit was tasked with this. This unit also investigates disappearances of adults, among other things, so it is standard practice for these specialist officers to be given the responsibility of getting to the bottom of such things.”
