A man who supplied a 14-year-old girl with alcohol before raping her has been jailed for 11 years.

Aluwas Razak approached and befriended the girl from Leicester city centre, bought her food and took her to the cinema on 15 July 2023.

Officers said he then took her to a hostel in Hinckley Road, Leicester, and sexually assaulted her.

At Leicester Crown Court, Razak, 30, was found guilty of two counts of sexual activity with a child and rape.

Extreme courage

Razak, of Stretton Road in Leicester, was found after officers searched CCTV footage for the suspect’s face, Leicestershire Police said.

CCTV showed him withdrawing money from an ATM, later found to be the money used to pay for the camera.

Footage also showed him buying vodka from a nearby store that night.

While making inquiries to try and identify him, one of the detectives working on the case spotted Razak on the street entering a property.

Following Tuesday’s sentencing, Inspector Kevin Hames said: “Razak approached a young woman who was alone and, having gained her trust, abused that power to commit the most horrific crimes.

“Throughout her ordeal, the girl has shown incredible strength.

“It took extreme courage to share the details of what happened so officers and staff could carry out a thorough investigation.”

Razak was also given a four-year license extension, on top of his 11-year jail term, and given a sexual harm prevention order.

He was also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
