Woman seriously injured in an electric bike crash

A woman has been seriously injured after an e-bike crashed into her in a park in Bristol. The hit victim was rushed to the hospital after being hit by the electric bike.

Police were called at around 2.40pm this afternoon (Thursday July 18) to an incident at Greville Smyth Park in South Bristol. An electric motorcycle was reported to have been ridden off a hill and hit a woman while she was on the ground.

The bike rider as well as three others fled the scene without checking the woman’s well-being. A cordon was set up around the park, with police and a collision investigation van seen at the scene.

One person was arrested this evening in connection with this incident. A large police presence as well as the police helicopter were in the area.

Sergeant Owen Davies said: “None of the people on the bikes stopped to check the woman’s welfare following the incident. However, we have arrested one person in connection with our inquiries this evening with the help of the National Police Air Service helicopter.

“We have already obtained some CCTV from the surrounding streets and will continue to gather more in the coming days.

“There were many people in the park at the time of the incident and we would ask anyone who saw what happened, as well as anyone who saw the four bikes riding around the park, to contact us.

“We believe a drone was being flown over the park at the time of the incident and are particularly interested in speaking to its operator – if it is, please get in touch.”

If you have footage or information that could help our enquiry, please call 101 and tell the operator you are calling the reference number 5224187565 .”
