Police statement on youth gang ‘attacking people and terrorizing shops’ in Bedworth

A gang of youths are “attacking people and terrorizing shops” in Bedworth town centre, locals claim. They also claimed that the police knew the young suspects but did not take any action against them.

One resident, who would not be named, said: “A gang of youths around Bedworth are attacking people every day, terrorizing shops and attacking children for no reason.” They claimed the youths were involved in violence which broke out at Wetherspoons in the city center a few weeks ago.

Locals claimed that the names and identities of the people were known to the police. “The police know exactly who they are and what they do, but nothing is being done about it,” the resident said.

CoventryLive has taken the allegations and concerns to Warwickshire Police and the Bedworth Safer Neighborhood Team (SNT). In a statement, Sgt Chris Studd, from the squad, said officers listened to reports of anti-social behaviour.

“We have a zero tolerance approach to anti-social behavior and violence in our communities.” Sergeant Studd said. “When we are made aware of this, we listen to reports, identify offenders, gather evidence and deal with it appropriately and robustly.

“The first step is to hear about it. If you have problems with ASB or criminal activity, you need to report it to us – you can use our online reporting tool ( www.warwickshire.police.uk/report ), tell us anonymously through Crimestoppers or call 999 if it’s an emergency.
