Former Bradford City loan star Romoney Crichlow is on the move from his current club

Bradford City have taken Romoney Crichlow on loan for the 2022/23 campaign and he has now been made available for transfer by Peterborough United.

Bradford City fans will fondly remember the Crichlow defender’s time at Valley Parade during the 2022/23 season.

The Luton-born centre-back has had numerous spells away from parent club Huddersfield Town, but perhaps none as successful as his spell with the Bantams.

He locked down a place in the starting XI, playing 41 times in all competitions and providing a goal and an assist along the way. Such form would have raised hopes of a permanent stay, but following his release to Huddersfield, it was Peterborough United who snapped him up.

A year at London Road

Crichlow seemed the ideal signing for Posh. As a young left-handed centre-back who had just impressed in Ligue 1, he looked primed and ready for a step up to a higher league in a permanent home.

He made 32 appearances in his first season, but only eight of his 22 Ligue 1 outings came as a start. Crichlow found action in the cup games but ultimately failed to lock down a place in Darren Ferguson’s side.

As a result, and Crichlow entering the final 12 months of his contract, it has now been confirmed that he will be available for a transfer this summer.

A fee will be required to sign him, but at the right price, Peterborough United can cash in.

Of course, it remains to be seen exactly what price Peterborough United set for Crichlow.

That will ultimately dictate Bradford City’s wishes, but you have to believe the Bantams are alerted to this development.

Graham Alexander will be keen on impressive signings and despite a rather indifferent year at London Road, Crichlow would be as well. His price could be reasonable for a Ligue 2 side, and a move to the fourth tier seems logical given that he has been unable to break through to the third tier this season.

Crichlow should have a few admirers as a potential exit beckons, and former loanee Bradford City should be among them.
