Eye-catching milestone for Nuneaton’s new Hampton-by-Hilton hotel

An eye-catching milestone has been reached for the new Hampton-by-Hilton hotel in Nuneaton town centre. The hoarding surrounding the Abbey Street side of the huge new building has been removed.

It revealed the glass-fronted ground floor of the huge building, which is now the largest in the city centre. This area includes what will be the reception as well as the ‘hub bar’.




Elevators are also located on the ground floor to take guests up to one of the hotel’s 145 bedrooms. It was last summer that steel supports were first put into the ground to begin the actual construction of the £20 million hotel, which was paid for by the district council.

In the past year, the hotel has emerged from the ground of what was part of the old Co-op car park into the sky. It is to be handed over next month ready to be fully furnished by the national hotel chain.

The hotel is the first phase of the huge Grayson Place development in the Abbey Street area of ​​the city. But phase two has been shelved as new council leader Councilor Chris Watkins said he was not “100 per cent happy” with the plans.

At a full council meeting, he cited “health and safety” concerns about some of the proposals for the second phase, which will include the creation of a new surface level car park as well as a new cinema and of a supply hall with a glass facade. in the area where part of the old Co-op department store once stood.
