Manchester United suffered an injury before the pre-season tour

Manchester United defender Will Fish could miss out on a pre-season tour through injury.

Fish, who made his debut against Rosenborg, is understood to have picked up a foot injury in the pre-season friendly defeat to Rosenborg in Norway on Monday. The 21-year-old avoided a break but suffered severe bruising and will be assessed over the next few days.

United manager Erik ten Hag questioned some of the rumbling tackles from Rosenborg’s players in the first half of their 1-0 win.

“I think there were a lot of bad tackles in the first half,” Ten Hag said. “They stopped some really big chances when we were on the counter-attack and they got some big shots. But as I see it now, they’ll recover for training tomorrow.”

United face Rangers in Edinburgh on Saturday in their second friendly before flying to Los Angeles for their three-match tour on Wednesday.

Fish has spent the last two years on loan in Edinburgh with Hibernian and is now attracting interest from Championship clubs. The academy graduate’s contract with United expires next year.
