Live: M4 and M5 holiday traffic causes chaos near Bristol

There are long delays on the M4 at Bristol this afternoon (Friday 19 July). According to traffic monitoring website Inrix, heavy holiday traffic is building westbound on the M4 and drivers should expect delays.


There is currently congestion at junction 20 for Almondsbury. There is also one lane of the M4 eastbound closed and recovery work is underway after a multi-vehicle crash at junction 19.



Inrix reports: “M4 eastbound lane closed on an exit radius, traffic queued due to recovery work and a multi-vehicle accident at J19 M32 (Bristol). Congestion to J20 (M5 interchange). lights.”

Traffic backed up due to holiday traffic on the M5 southbound from J17 A4018 (Cribbs Causeway) to J20 B3133 Ettlingen Way (Clevedon). Traffic in spots.

Long delays due to holiday traffic on M4 westbound at J20 M5 J15 (Almondsbury Interchange). Congestion to J19 (M32 / Bristol).
