Assault probe in Pype Hayes Park after a woman was attacked by a stranger

A woman was subjected to a horrific attack by a stranger in a city park. Police investigating the incident have appealed for information.

It happened in Pype Hayes Park, Erdington. Police carried out CCTV checks and increased patrols in the area but have been unable to identify the suspect since her attempt on the evening of May 12. He was described as a man in his 30s.




No arrests have been made and police inquiries are ongoing.

Speaking to X, Birmingham Police posted: “We are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted in Pype Hayes Park, Erdington. Around 6:45 p.m., on May 12, a woman was attacked in the park by an unknown man.

“We believe this is an isolated incident but understand the concern this will raise in the community. Since the attack we have carried out CCTV checks and increased patrols in the area but have been unable to identify the suspect.

“As a result, we are appealing to the public to help identify the person responsible, who is believed to be a man in his 30s.
