Jadon Sancho’s reaction speaks volumes after Manchester United announced his transfer exit

Jadon Sancho has said goodbye to his former Manchester United team-mate Mason Greenwood, who has just completed his move to Marseille.

Greenwood, a product of United’s Carrington academy, makes the move after a loan spell at Grenada and is Erik ten Hag’s biggest sale of the summer, bringing the Premier League side £26.6m (34 .4 million dollars).

The Red Devils are expected to continue their release to support an ambitious summer under the new management of Sir Jim Ratcliffe alongside a revamped sporting directorate. Players such as Victor Lindelof could be on the way out, with Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford also rumored to be in the transfer conversation.

Sancho, after a spell at Borussia Dortmund in the second half of the previous season, was also tipped for departure. However, with the pre-season underway, Ten Hag threw him a lifeline. The United gaffer, speaking during the second week of training ahead of the US tour, clarified his position on Sancho’s future at the club.

“As I said, we draw the line,” Ten Hag stated. “Manchester United needs good players and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line and we are moving on.”

The relationship between Ten Hag and Sancho has been strained since the start of last season, when the manager publicly criticized Sancho’s training efforts. The former Manchester City academy player hit back online, causing a rift.

However, it appears that Sancho now has an opportunity at Old Trafford, unlike Greenwood, who the club felt “would be best for him” to move on. Upon his announcement as a Marseille player, Greenwood expressed his excitement on social media: “Very excited about this new chapter. Allez l’OM! (blue heart emoji)”. Sancho wished him well with a simple raised hands emoji.
