Jamaican defender Chantelle Swaby moves to Leicester City from FC Fleury 91

Jamaican international defender Chantelle Swaby has signed a two-year deal with Leicester City, pending league and international approval.

The 25-year-old joins the Foxes on a permanent deal following her departure from FC Fleury 91 in France’s Première Ligue. Swaby, who has 38 international caps and has competed at both the World Cup and CONCACAF championships since her debut in 2018, brings significant experience to her new club.

“It’s great to have signed for Leicester City. I know this is going to be a really good experience and a great challenge for me and I’m really excited,” Swaby told LCFC.com. “Playing as the home team at the King Power Stadium will be a completely different experience and I’m really looking forward to getting started with my team-mates and meeting the supporters.”

Born in Connecticut, USA, Swaby’s soccer journey began in 2016 with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Rutgers University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management. Her professional career began in March 2020 when she was drafted in the fourth round by National Women’s Soccer League team Sky Blue FC.

Swaby then spent a year with Rangers in the Scottish Women’s Premier League before moving to French top-flight side FC Fleury 91, where she made 33 appearances and helped the club to fourth place.
