How can Manchester City win the Premier League title race ahead of Arsenal?

Manchester City are very close to winning their fourth consecutive Premier League title, a feat that has never been achieved before.

Arsenal currently lead the table with 86 points after their crucial away win against Manchester United. City are second on 85 points but have a game in hand.

The Manchester club have two games remaining, Spurs (away) and West Ham United (home) on May 15 and 19 respectively, while Arsenal face the challenge of Everton on the final matchday.

Scenario 1 – Man City win both games

It’s pretty straightforward if City win both games. Guardiola’s side will end their season with 91 points and even if Arsenal win their last game, they can only reach 89 points.

Scenario 2 – Man City draw both matches and Arsenal lose

If City draw both games, their points tally will only increase to 87. In this case, only if Arsenal lose their last game, City can win the title. If the Gunners lose, they lose the title as they are locked on 86 points. A draw would see them finish on 87, level with City, and as they lead on goal difference by 2, Arsenal will win the title instead.

Scenario 3 – Man City win a game and Arsenal lose or draw their last game

If City win one and lose or draw the other, they will end their league campaign with at least 88 or 89 points. This would mean that if Arsenal draw their last game, they will end up with 87 points and miss out on the league title. If Arsenal win their last game and City finish with a win and a draw, both clubs will be tied on 89 points and the team with the higher goal difference will lift the trophy.

Scenario 4 – Man City draw a match and Arsenal lose

If City draw one game and lose the other, they will end the season with 86 points, level with Arsenal if they lose their last game. In this case, if the Gunners end up losing the game by more than three goals, then City will win the title.
