Oadby High Street will be closed to traffic later this month

Most of Oadby’s Parade will be closed to traffic for up to four days so Severn Trent Water can carry out work in the area. The closure from Sandhurst Street to Brooksby Drive will start on Monday 29 July and the closure has been authorized for up to four days.

Two days earlier – Saturday, July 27 – the Parade will also be closed, due to a food market. Saturday’s closure will also affect Chestnut Avenue and the top end of Leicester Road.

During the four-day closure, no traffic will be able to cross from the A6 to homes and businesses further along The Parade and drivers will have to use New Street.

Leicestershire County Council said in a statement about the closure: “A temporary traffic regulation order is in place for The Parade, Oadby, between Chestnut Avenue and the Post Office. The purpose of the order is to allow Severn Trent Water to safely facilitate the lock. Valve chamber reconstruction work.

“The order will include a temporary road closure. The duration of the restriction is not anticipated to exceed a period of four days, starting on July 29, 2024.”
