Chris Davies reveals Birmingham City transfer intent after triple signing

Chris Davies says Birmingham City are by no means done with the transfer market this summer after completing three signings in a week. Blues supporters who traveled to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday for their final pre-season friendly saw first glimpses of Alex Cochrane and Willum Willumsson, who arrived earlier this week, while another debutant in Christophe Klarer – announced Saturday morning – watched them from the stands.

The Blues have made seven new additions to their squad this summer, including two goalkeepers, winger Emil Hansson and striker Alfie May, but Davies doesn’t feel the club’s business is done – not by much. The Blues parted ways with 18 players at the end of last season, including five loanees, and have since parted ways with Alex Pritchard, while Juninho Bacuna and Manny Longelo are also heading for the exit door.

Davies wants an ideal scenario where he has two senior players fighting for every position on the pitch. That could still mean a couple of defenders and two more advanced players, while any other players who might leave – as Jordan James inevitably has interest elsewhere – should be fine from this point on. The new Blues boss is happy with what they have been able to complete so far, but fans can expect more.

“That was the seventh player we’ve signed since I’ve been here and we absolutely need a few more to come in,” Davies said. Birmingham Live. “I can’t put an exact number on it, but we’re certainly nowhere near done. We have to go on and build this team.

“As you saw today, we still have five, six, seven, eight young players. It’s going to be important for our depth this season, so it’s a work in progress, but we had our most productive week yet. in terms of converting targets to actual marks, so that was really good.

“You have the season actually starting in three weeks, but the window is open for another six weeks. There’s a bit of a lag and you might still have some work to do when the season starts which has never made sense to me but it is is what it is the market just started moving last week and we’re a product of to stay.
