Benfica confirm PSG’s official bid for the Manchester United-bound star

Although Manchester United have pipped Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of former LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro, it appears the capital club are set to outdo the Red Devils by signing SL Benfica midfielder João Neves.

Furthermore, Benfica president Rui Costa has confirmed that PSG have submitted an official proposal for Neves after the player and the club agreed personal terms.

“There is a proposal for João, yes,” Costa said. “We are discussing the amount. I never said that João would only leave for 120 million euros.”

Sports Zone also reported last month that Neves’ agent Jorge Mendes supports the move but insists the capital club must sell some midfielders first. All signs point to Manuel Ugarte leaving this summer as the Uruguayan is linked with a move to Manchester United.
