Manager says £5million player has ‘definitely’ played his last game for the club as he joins Leeds United

Leeds United have almost completed their fourth summer signing, if the words of their current manager are to be believed.

The Whites have been slowly but surely going about their business behind the scenes and perhaps the biggest window arrival is about to arrive.

Joe Rodon was the number one signing and although his return from a loan spell was massive for the club, he was here last season and so is not a new face.

Alex Cairns, meanwhile, has simply stepped in as Leeds’ new third-choice goalkeeper following Kristoffer Klaesson’s exit.

Joe Rothwell showed against Harrogate Town that he has plenty to offer, but at this stage Leeds’ midfield is no stronger after the losses of Glen Kamara and Archie Gray.

Chris Wilder makes Jayden Bogle’s admission at Leeds

Right-back has become an emergency position for Leeds in recent weeks and it looks like they’ve got their man.

Reports emerged this morning that Leeds have agreed a £5m fee with Sheffield United in a deal for Jayden Bogle.

Bogle traveled to West Yorkshire to undergo a medical this morning and was therefore cleared to miss the Blades’ pre-season friendly at Chesterfield earlier today.

Speaking after the game, Blades boss Chris Wilder was asked about reports regarding Bogle’s future and confirmed that he had played his last game for the club before the move to Elland Road, one the 23-year-old had been told he wants to do it this week. .

Via the BBC, he said: “Yeah, he definitely had, so it was a disappointing one to lose, but we’re moving on. He’s out of contract, so that’s the difficult part, the position clubs are putting themselves in.

“Absolutely 100%, in an ideal world, you don’t want players to fulfill their contracts, but I can’t force him, I can’t put a gun to his head and a pen in his hand to sign a contract at Sheffield United . .

“He made it clear to me this week that he sees his future elsewhere, he sees his future at Leeds United and we wish him all the best. When players do that, it’s about trying to get the best possible price for the football club.”

Bogle announcement imminent

Given the time required for Rothwell to undergo a medical and fulfill his media duties, an announcement is now imminent.

Rothwell arrived at Thorp Arch the morning before his proposed loan switch from Bournemouth, which is exactly what Bogle is to be believed.

Leeds are clearly keen to have him on board for the upcoming pre-season tour of Germany, so it is in their best interests to wrap him up quickly.

It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that it’s announced tonight, though if not, certainly Sunday morning.
