The Hoops sign a former Coventry City striker after a hat-trick as a trialist

OXFORD City have snapped up former Coventry City striker Bradley Stretton following his Test hat-trick against Kings Langley.

Stretton, who can play centrally and on either wing, will wear the number 11 shirt for the Hoops.

The 19-year-old was released by Coventry in May without making a first-team appearance after initially joining his boyhood club as a seven-year-old, but has made a big impression at Court Place Farm as a trialist, scoring four goals in pre-season.

Those strikes include his hat-trick as City beat Kings Langley 9-1 in a pre-season clash at Court Place Farm on Saturday.

Stretton told the Hoops club website: “It’s great to finally finish it now. I’m really excited, it’s a new start and I’m looking forward to getting my career on track and doing my job.”

Hoops manager Sam Cox added: “I’ve been really impressed with Brad. He’s someone we’ve been aware of, he’s a fantastic young talent and he was in and around Coventry’s first team last season.

“He has a fantastic profile, he is a good technician and a very good person.

“In the games he’s been a part of, he’s impressed and he’s definitely someone we think we can work with, help improve and develop on his journey. It’s a very good signing for us.”
