Brit award winner Tom Walker plays two free shows

Brit award winner Tom Walker played two free shows for fans in Huddersfield on Saturday.

The shows took place in St. George’s Square in the city center.

Walker’s new single, inspired by his Huddersfield-born wife Annie, was released on Friday.

He told the hundreds of fans gathered that it was “an absolute joy” to perform for them.

A few local walkers “handpicked” by Walker also played on the bill, a Kirklees Council spokesman said.

Walker, whose hits include Leave a Light On and ‘Just You and I’, won the gong for Best Breakthrough Act at the 2019 Brit Awards.

Speaking ahead of the shows, the Scot said: “Northern people are very nice, my wife Annie is from Huddersfield so I love Yorkshire.”

Newly elected leader of Kirklees Council, Carole Pattison, said she was “delighted that Tom has chosen to visit Kirklees and highlight all there is to love about our area”.

Walker also held a meet and greet session for fans at each end of his shows.
