Caravans leave Goring Gap… only for the new camp to appear 2 miles away

The caravans on a village green have finally been moved… only for a camp to appear on a football pitch just over a mile away.

Police and West Sussex County Council issued a final warning to the group to leave Goring Gap, where they have been based since July 16, before 10am today.

All the caravans packed up and left the site but then a new camp was seen just 1.2 miles away on the football pitches north of Goring.

The council said on Friday it had already served them with a notice asking them to vacate the land.

A spokesman added: “They have all received a notice asking them to vacate the land.”

“If they fail to do so, legal proceedings will begin. We will continue to monitor the site with Sussex Police.”

At the Goring Gap camp just a month ago in June, concerns were raised about fly tipping.
