Coventry shop is changing hands after three decades as owners say ‘hard to believe’

A Coventry Londis has changed hands after almost three decades, with many saying those at the helm will be “greatly missed”. Londis on Quinton Park reopened under new management last Friday (July 12).

Owners Devinder and Kashmir Gill have announced they are selling the family-run shop after 27 years of serving the people of Cheylesmore. In a statement shared on Facebook, they described their time there as an “honour”.

Mr and Mrs Gill said the Quinton Park store was “half the size” it was when they opened in 1997. Many customers shared their sadness at the much-loved couple’s departure, with one saying they would be “hard to fit in”. ‘

A spokesperson for Londis Cheylesmore said: “After over 27 wonderful years, we are selling the store. It’s hard to believe that all those years ago, we opened our doors in Cheylesmore with a shop half the size of today.

“Four generations of our family have had the honor of serving this incredible community, creating countless memories along the way. We’ve always strived to do more than just work here and aim to integrate into the community, going the extra mile to help and support each and every one of you.

“Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives. It has been a privilege to serve you, laugh with you, and be a part of this wonderful community. We will miss you all very much.”
