Sir Geoffrey Boycott ‘gets worse’ in cancer update

Cricket legend Sir Geoffrey Boycott, 83, is battling pneumonia following an operation linked to his second bout of throat cancer. This family issued a statement saying it had taken a “turn for the worse”.

The former England opener will be “on oxygen and a feeding tube most likely”, his family announced.

His diagnosis was announced earlier this month and since then there has been an outpouring of support for him. A post on the Boycott’s official page said: “Thank you all for the well wishes, we were blown away by the sheer number of them!”
