Sir Geoffrey Boycott’s condition worsens as England legend admitted to hospital after developing pneumonia

Former England captain and legend Sir Geoffrey Boycott has been admitted to hospital after contracting pneumonia, indicating that his condition has worsened after being discharged from hospital just two days ago.

According to an official statement released by his family on his official handle on X, “Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse and my dad developed pneumonia and can’t eat or drink, so he’s back in hospital on oxygen and a feeding tube. for the foreseeable”.

The former England cricketer underwent surgery to remove cancer in his throat. The account had suggested that the three-hour operation went well, after which he was prescribed some pain medication along with a liquid diet.

Boycot is currently back in the hospital on a feeding tube and on oxygen for the foreseeable future according to the latest update on his condition.

Boycott is one of a select group of cricketers to score 100 first-class hundreds. For England, he scored more than 8,000 runs in 108 Tests at an average of nearly 48. Boycott also captained England in four Tests in 1978 in place of the injured Mike Brearley.

He is also a renowned commentator, with a 14-year stint with BBC Radio’s Test Match special. However, it was forced to end after quadruple heart bypass surgery he underwent in 2018, along with the coronavirus pandemic, were factors in his decision to end his career at the BBC.

Boycot was first diagnosed with cancer in 2002 for which he underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
