School shortlisted for ‘Education Oscar’

Stanhope Primary School has been shortlisted for 2 prestigious national education awards which recognize the best schools and teachers in the UK.

The school, in Mansell Road, Greenford, is in the running to be named Primary School of the Year and Early Years Foundation Stage Setting of the Year in the Tes Schools Awards.

The awards, which have been dubbed the ‘Oscars of education’, celebrate the achievements of individuals and schools.

“The privilege of being a director”

Headteacher Hannah Widdison said: “We are over the moon to have been shortlisted for 2 prestigious Tes awards. To be recognized and selected by Tes is incredible and is the result of the passion and dedication of our students, staff, families and governors who consistently go above and beyond to make Stanhope the magical school that it is. Every morning I wake up feeling privileged to be the headmaster of such an exceptional school.”

Kat Pietruszka is the early years strategic leader as part of her role as deputy director. She added: “We are incredibly grateful to Tes for recognizing the love and effort we put into achieving exceptionally high results at the end of the early years. It is a testament to our exciting curriculum and the close partnership we share with our wonderful families that makes our setting truly unique and special.”

Remarkable and inclusive

A recent Ofsted inspection rated the school for the first time as outstanding in 3 categories and good in the other 2.

Last year, the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) awarded the school the Inclusive School Award for its continued commitment to providing the best education for all children, regardless of differences; and IQM has also designated it as a Center of Excellence for its outstanding work.

“The judges made a great choice”

Councilor Kamaljit Nagpal, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for a fairer start, said: “To be shortlisted in these awards is no mean feat and the school really deserves this recognition. Having visited them several times, I can absolutely agree that the judges made an excellent choice in selecting them – I wish them all the best for the awards night.”

The winners are to be announced at a glittering gala evening at the Grosvenor Hotel in Park Lane on June 21.
