How Ethan Ampadu hilariously reacted to Jayden Bogle’s arrival at the training camp in Leeds, Germany

Jayden Bogle became Leeds United’s fourth signing of the summer window on Saturday night and the right-back joined his new team-mates in Germany on Sunday afternoon.

The 23-year-old has completed a move believed to be worth around £5million from Sheffield United. A deal Blades boss Chris Wilder wept before it was announced when Bogle made the switch.

The right-back will wear the No.2 shirt at Elland Road, a jersey that was previously held by Luke Ayling for the past eight years. Big shoes to fill then for the former Derby man, who has impressed in the last quarter.

Despite Sheffield United being relegated from the Premier League, Bogle has been a rare shining light for the Blades. Indeed, the star has scored three goals in the top flight against Chelsea and both Manchester clubs.

How Ampadu reacted to the arrival of former teammate Bogle

Ampadu is expected to become the club’s new captain at just 23, with Liam Cooper in talks with Blackburn after his Leeds contract expires. But he is a former teammate of new signing Bogle.

Ampadu was loaned to Sheffield United for the 2020–21 season from Chelsea, the same year Bogle moved to Bramall Lane. Wales star Ampadu played 29 times for the Blades that season.

The squad arrived at their training base in Germany on Sunday morning, before Bogle rose in the evening. Leeds posted a video of his arrival, with Ampadu asking Sam Byram if his late introduction was a fine.

Bogle was a key player for Sheffield United in the Premier League and would have been this season had he stayed. But he was entering the final year of his contract and Sheffield United had to make a decision.

In an effort to reassure Blades fans, Sheffield United fans described the fee received for Bogle on X as “significant”. Leeds’ media team responded by branding the no. 2 as a “significant” number to wear.

But with Ayling, Rasmus Kristensen, Connor Roberts, Archie Gray and Jamie Shackleton all leaving Leeds this summer for one reason or another, the addition of Bogle is absolutely crucial ahead of promotion.
