SLC has been cycling the distance from Birmingham to Manchester with a 15 year fundraiser

SLC Rail, who are celebrating their 15th anniversary this year, completed another 15 for 15 challenge by cycling for 8 hours on a stationary bike in Birmingham’s Brindleyplace to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

The transport experts have harnessed the excitement of the Tour de France with a static cycle challenge outside their headquarters in Brindleyplace Central Square.

Colleagues from SLC Rail and SLC Property took to their own ‘stage’ throughout the day and raised £1.25k for Prostate Cancer UK. The team collectively traveled 250km, which is equivalent to the distance from SLC’s headquarters in Birmingham to the company’s northern team in Manchester and back.

SLC has had a substantial impact on the railway over 15 years through work on rail strategies, new stations, master planning and refurbishment and renewal schemes.

Ian Walters, Managing Director of SLC, attended one of the stages. He said: “Throughout our 15-year journey, giving back to society has always been important to us, so we wanted to organize 15 challenges or acts of kindness as part of our anniversary celebrations. We have many other events planned to engage the whole company throughout the year.

“This challenge was fantastic, showcasing teamwork in action involving different parts of our business. We have been delighted to receive generous support, with people in the Brindleyplace area donating and getting involved with the charity’s literature.”

A big thank you to everyone who took part in the challenge and to the team at Brindleyplace and Bannatynes for their support in making it happen.
