West Kirby RNLI rescued four people and a dog from Middle Eye

West Kirby RNLI rescued four people and a dog from being cut off by a wave on Middle Eye.

They were docked by the Coastguard at around 11am on Sunday, July 21, following a request from lifeguards.

After finding the victims on Middle Eye, the three crew members transferred the group to their inshore lifeboat and brought them safely to shore at the north end of West Kirby Marine Lake.

All were injured and no medical attention was required.

Andy Brown from West Kirby RNLI Launch Authority, said: “If you are visiting Hilbre or any of the islands, please check the Wirral Council website for tide times, but as a general rule we recommend turning back. to West Kirby three hours before high water.

“Always be aware of the tide, it doesn’t flood in a straight line and it can surround you quickly. Please remember to have a means of communication and do not hesitate to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard the moment you think you or anyone else may be in danger, we are always happy to help.”
