Gills sign Marcus Wyllie | Gillingham FC

Gillingham have completed the signing of striker Marcus Wyllie from Enfield Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old was instrumental in helping Enfield win promotion to the National League South last season, scoring 34 times in 49 appearances in all competitions during a prolific spell.

The Towners beat Wingate & Finchley in the play-off semi-finals before defeating Chatham Town at the Bauvill Stadium in the final.

Wyllie, who is taking his first step into full-time professional football after only playing part-time previously, could feature against Dartford at Princes Park on Tuesday.

Marcus said: “I’m really excited to be here; it all happened so fast and I’m still processing it. This is what I’ve always wanted (to play full-time) and I’m excited to finally have the chance to do it. “

Director of Football Kenny Jackett added: “It’s a really significant signing for us. As a community club, we have a responsibility to scout the various leagues and recruit players who we believe have a bright future and can add depth to our squad.

“We have done our due diligence on Marcus, he is a hard working lad who has had a prolific season with Enfield Town and I have no doubt that he is the type of player Gillingham fans will enjoy watching.

“Our recruiting team works very hard when it comes to identifying talent from our region who have the skills to play at our level and possibly even higher. We give players the opportunity to show what they can do and we will continue to work. hard to add quality to our existing setup.”
