Police offer free car seat checks at Wakefield Mall

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI (WPRI) — According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, proper car seats save the lives of 325 children under 5 each year.

The agency stresses the importance of choosing the best car seat to keep your child safe as they get older, as well as the importance of making sure all car seats are installed correctly.

That’s why the South Kingstown Police Department is offering free child car seat checks this month.

From 10am to 1pm on July 30, the department’s licensed technicians will be at Wakefield Mall, 160 Old Tower Hill Road, to help install and check car seats.

The department says it is not necessary to make an appointment before passing.
