“Fargate will be one of Sheffield’s most important pubs, with over £1m of investment being made in the new bespoke interior,” Thornbridge director Jamie Hawksworth said.

“This will be a wonderful showcase for the brewery and its beers will be served on a beautiful polished oak island bar surrounded by handcrafted oak paneling and leather banquette seating.

“We think it will be a great boost to the great work already done to make the city center great again. Work on the fitout is expected to begin later this year, with an opening date yet to be announced.”

College director Simon Webster added: “We have been working with Sheffield City Council for over a year to identify this site and are then working together to provide outdoor seating as part of the new Fargate development. Both indoor and outdoor views from this prestigious building will add to the customer experience.

“Thornbridge & Co is delighted to be able to invest in Sheffield City Center and is delighted to be part of the new Fargate development and create an excellent gateway to the Heart of The City”

Ben Miskell, Chair of Sheffield City Council’s Transport, Regeneration and Climate Policy Committee, said: “I am delighted to welcome this fantastic addition from Thornbridge & Co to our rapidly transforming city centre.

“Fargate will breathe new life into a beautiful building opposite City Hall and will fit in brilliantly with the many retail, office and other hospitality venues opening up downtown.

“The addition of outdoor seating, made possible by improvements to the surrounding area, together with the bespoke interior, will add The Fargate to Sheffield’s must-see list.”
