Sheffield United Women sign midfielder Monique Robinson

Sheffield United have signed talented young midfielder Monique Robinson from Leicester City in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Robinson progressed through the Foxes academy after initially being in the Blades youth set-up at 16 and enjoyed success with the WSL outfit, including scoring a goal in the team’s first win in the First Division, a strike that earned him a nomination in the league’s Goal of the Month competition. .

The 19-year-old made her senior debut in 2022 in a Continental League Cup tie against Manchester City and was part of a successful academy side that won the WSL Academy League Plate in the same year.

Robinson was also capped by England U-19s last year and after gaining vital first-team experience on loan at both Loughborough Lightning and Burnley, the teenager is set to make the step up to senior football on a permanent basis with the Blades ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Robinson said: “I am very excited. I was here at the academy and I’m excited to be back. Getting the experience at level three has really helped me with senior football and I’m ready to take the next step.”
