Leicester City fans are increasingly returning to the club after the latest scandal

Judging by the comments that have been written on Leicester City Football Club’s high-profile social media accounts, Foxes fans are rightly rooting for the outfit. The latest mini-scandal involving the King Power team involves charging to broadcast friendly programs.

Perhaps superpower teams like Manchester United, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea can get away with this kind of behavior due to their size and following. However, Midland citizens ownership should do more and think differently to ensure their own supporters are not taken advantage of. The Blue Army is literally backing them financially, and this recent ultra, while light, is unacceptable.

The behind-the-scenes management and hierarchy at Leicester City FC has been widely praised in the modern era. The infrastructure, quality and care brought to LCFC by the late and great Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was unimaginably class. The Thai businessman’s methods were revolutionary; an unthinkable and timeless Premier League triumph took place soon enough under the authority and mastery of ‘Khun Vichai’.

Following a horrific and fatal accident that took ‘The Boss’ to the stadium he loved and helped make English football ever more important, his son took over. The Blue Army expected Aiyawatt, or “Khun Top”, to rise to the king’s power thrown both here and in Asia. He did so; Top also had the full support of my fellow Foxes.

I don’t think the 38-year-old has done a bad job in his roughly five-and-a-half years as Leicester chairman. He had the unenviable task of occupying the highly admired and revered position of his father. He also handled televised tragedy involving the most disastrous circumstances and personal loss on the largest scale.

Some of Vichai’s best practices were championed on Filbert Way. There are perks for the faithful, along with occasional freebies and fun days. Of course, Top has his own ideas; altering aspects and going in different directions is his prerogative.

However, what is clear is that the outfit has been in what feels like a very steady decline for several years. Perhaps the unpredictable relegation from the Premier League was actually more predictable. Subtle indicators emerged, such as higher duty on what appeared to be cheaper goods and replica tapes. Going into huge debt is also particularly alarming.

Choosing strange partners such as shady financial organizations with betting companies as sponsors is unpleasant many among us fans. While some don’t like the moniker of the family club – it’s preferable to being the unprofitable empty shell of an establishment. But we are not in that state yet, don’t worry.

Anyway, It is unacceptable to apparently steal or squeeze the fan base that keeps the club afloat. And we easily see through the veneer of trying to imitate the big six, partly because it won’t work and is currently useless.

Another reason for the backlash is that LCFC is in desperate need of funds for profit and sustainability issues. Leicester’s owners could now be accused of exploiting supporters’ loyalty and funding to help cushion their own mistakes and potential punishment.

Questionable decisions were also made regarding team issues. The appointment of Dean Smith was a mistake before it happened. Both Smith and new manager Steve Cooper are also closely linked to rival Midlands sides, making them automatically unpopular choices. LCFC are a bit of a mess on and off the pitch at the moment to be fair. Ironically, that’s partly due to Enzo Maresca – in a positive and negative way. Although I definitely consider Cooper a potential partial ray of sunshine.

The owner can turn their tenure into a more memorable one despite a seemingly distant relationship. However, I can’t forget that Top oversaw a historic FA Cup win – but he must remain compassionate while being realistic and grounded. Imposing a £10 streaming fee for a friendly against Shrewsbury is undoubtedly acquisitive and certainly naive, especially when this service has always been free.
