France travel warning as UK tourists could be fined £155 each

People planning to travel from the UK to France are being warned they may need to apply for a key item if they want to avoid a £155 fine.

The European nation is very popular with British tourists and anyone wanting to drive their vehicle in France is now being warned they must apply for critical documentation at least 10 days before travel.

Crit’Air vignettes, the Clean Air stickers, are a must when traveling across the Channel, but many drivers forget to apply for them.

The stickers, which cost €3.72 and can easily be ordered online from the French government website, have been introduced to help reduce C02 emissions across the country. These identify your vehicle’s emissions based on the vehicle’s Euro emission standard.

Foreign drivers must display their Crit’Air sticker at all times while driving in Paris and many other areas including Lyon, Aix-Marseille, Toulouse, Nice, Montpellier, Strasbourg, Grenoble, Rouen, Reims and Saint-Étienne .

According to experts at Ripe Caravan Insurance, drivers who don’t follow the rules can be fined up to €180 (£155).
