Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘set to be handed HUGE new offer at Liverpool as he prepares to fend off interest from Real Madrid’ – with defender ‘committed’ to new project under Arne Slot at Anfield

  • Trent Alexander-Arnold has become a target for Spanish giants Real Madrid
  • However, reports now suggest the player is keen to stay at Liverpool next year
  • The club are preparing a potential new deal to keep the full-back on Merseyside

Liverpool are set to offer Trent Alexander-Arnold a huge new deal as the defender prepares to fend off interest from Real Madrid, according to reports.

It emerged earlier this month that the Reds defender had attracted interest from the Spanish giants as they eyed a potential summer move.

With Alexander-Arnold entering the final year of his contract, it is no surprise that Real Madrid have rekindled their interest.

However, reports now claim that the defender is keen to stay at Anfield and that the club are preparing to offer him a new long-term deal at the club.

According to The Sun, Alexander-Arnold has spoken to new boss Arne Slot and is committed to the new era under the Dutchman with the Merseyside giants.

A source told the press: “Trent has already spoken to the new manager. This was before the Euros and I’m in touch now.

“They had a great conversation initially but the manager respected that he had to focus on the tournament.

“Trent, like the rest of the team, sees this as a fresh start and a fresh start and is excited to get back into training to lay the foundations for another successful season.

“He is certainly committed for the season and will be presented with a huge deal to stay on.”

There was uncertainty over his future at Liverpool given his expiring contract and the departure of Jurgen Klopp – with whom the defender had a close relationship.

This was symbolized when Alexander-Arnold – along with Virgil van Dijk – broke down in tears as the German manager bid farewell to Liverpool fans in May.

Alexander-Arnold has now made 310 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 19 goals in all competitions for the Reds.

He also won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup twice with the Merseyside club.

Alexander-Arnold has also represented his country 29 times, with his most recent outings coming during England’s Euro 2024 campaign.

Alexander-Arnold has started England’s first two Euro group matches in central midfield, despite right-back being his most usual position at club level.

The Liverpool star also scored a penalty during England’s quarter-final win over Switzerland, but failed to make an appearance in the final against Spain.
