Residents have been urged to have their say on new ‘Barnet Loop’ proposals.

Proposals were launched in Barnet this week to create a 17-mile walking and cycling loop across most of the borough to help encourage more sustainable journeys and improve connectivity.

It is hoped that the ‘Barnet Loop’ will allow residents to have better access to parks, green spaces, schools and a range of other amenities – and when completed will form part of TfL’s cycleway network.

From Thursday 18 July to Friday 30 August, residents will have the opportunity to have their say on the proposals, look at the provisional route and provide feedback and comments on the plans before they are fully confirmed.

The Barnet Loop is being developed in response to resident feedback. People living in Barnet have expressed their desire for more opportunities to walk and cycle regularly to maintain a healthy lifestyle. By promoting these active travel options, the council is also progressing towards its goal of becoming a net zero neighborhood by 2042.

Cllr Alan Schneiderman, cabinet member for environment and climate change, said: “I am delighted to see the plans for the Barnet Loop taking shape and I urge residents to take a look at the route and give us your views before the pledge ends on August 30. .

“Having a comprehensive, safe and attractive route to walk, cycle or cycle through the borough will really help many of us make more active travel choices and enable access to some of Barnet’s most beautiful scenery.”
