Appeal for witnesses after serious collision, Huddersfield

Police are investigating a road traffic collision in the Moldgreen area of ​​Huddersfield after a pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a black Nissan Juke and a pedestrian at 6.19am this morning (26/7).

The collision happened on Wakefield Road, close to the junction with Poplar Street. The car is believed to have mounted the pavement before colliding with the pedestrian and coming to rest in the window of the business premises.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and is currently in custody.

The road, which was closed for investigations, has now reopened.
