One person remains in a ‘critical condition’ in hospital after being hit by a London Overground train at Enfield level crossing last night (Thursday 25).

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just before 11.30pm at Lincoln Road level crossing near Enfield Town station. The crossing is used only by pedestrians and cyclists and is accessed through a gate, which is manned by a crossing operator during the day but left open at night.

A BTP spokesman said: “Officers and paramedics attended and the person was taken to hospital for medical examination. The incident is not considered to be suspicious.”

Alice Kay was a passenger traveling on the train involved in last night’s incident and told him Dispatch: “We were on the train but had no idea what happened for ages and didn’t move for about an hour after apparently they brought in a replacement driver.

“We believe the person survived and was taken away in an ambulance.”
