After a two-week trial, Ahmed Fahmy, 45, of West Heath Drive, NW11, was found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault at Hendon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 25 July. He will be sentenced to the same sentence. court on September 20.

Detective Constable James Gomm, who led the investigation, said: “Fahmy displayed a clear pattern of offending where he abused his position as a hotel worker to approach his victims and carry out his crimes.

“I want to congratulate all the victim-survivors for their courage throughout this investigation. Some of the crimes in this case happened several years ago, and some victim-survivors felt better able to support the investigation now that time has passed since their initial reports.

“We do not for one moment underestimate the impact that reliving what happened would have had on those victim-survivors and I want to thank them for supporting this investigation. Your courage helped put a sex offender behind bars and protect other women.

“There may be other victims of Fahmy and if so I would urge them to contact the police immediately – you will be listened to and supported.”

On 19 January 2024, four women staying at a Golders Green hotel were separated overnight. Three returned early, but their friend had the room key. Hotel worker Ahmed Fahmy claimed he had no spare key and demanded £80 for a separate room. One woman complied, but Fahmy later entered her room and licked her foot twice, despite her protests.

The fourth woman returned later and, after losing her key, Fahmy lured her into his bedroom and raped her. The group changed hotels the next morning.

On January 21, police found the rape victim in distress in Regents Park. She reported the rape, which led to Fahmy’s arrest. Another member of the group also reported sexual assault by Fahmy.
