Liverpool ‘interested’ in signing £34m Arsenal flop as club boss travels for transfer talks

Liverpool are edging ever closer to the start of the new Premier League campaign as the pre-season continues. The Reds are currently in the United States ramping up their preparations for a new era at Anfield.

Arne Slot is Liverpool’s new head coach as he replaces Jurgen Klopp in the dugout. Slot has been busy assessing his squad in the early weeks of pre-season with the summer transfer window in the background.

So far, Liverpool have made no new signings this summer, but there is still plenty of time for that to change before the September 2 deadline. Despite the lack of new signings, the Reds continue to be credited with an interest in a host of players this summer.

The ECHO has rounded up some of the latest Liverpool transfer rumors circulating online and on social media over the past 24 hours.

Liverpool are being linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Donyell Malen. Reports earlier this summer first linked the Reds with a potential swoop for the Netherlands international, and now an update has emerged.

According to Caught Offside, Liverpool will face competition from Arsenal this summer to sign Malen, who the Dutchman let go to sign for PSV in 2018 after coming through the youth ranks at the Emirates Stadium. It has been claimed that Malen has a £34m (€40m) release clause, which both the Reds and Gunners are considering activating.

However, it has been claimed that Malen would favor a move to Arsenal over Liverpool if both clubs made an offer. The report concludes by saying that the Reds would like to sign Malen as a back-up option for Mohamed Salah.

Elsewhere, Ryan Gravenberch is being linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer. Turkish news outlet Yeni Safak claimed that Galatasaray are interested in signing the midfielder.
