‘Nice’ dad with ‘contagious laugh’ named Cannock crash victim

The heartbroken family of a young father killed in a crash in Cannock have paid tribute to a man with the “biggest heart”. Scott Smythe was driving a Vauxhall Mokka which collided with a black Mercedes AMG C on Rawnsley Road, Hednesford, at around 7.45pm on Sunday 21 July.

Police, firefighters and ambulance personnel called to the scene found the 33-year-old man in critical condition. West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a critical care car from Midlands Air Ambulance and Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were all scrambled.




But nothing could be done to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scott’s family said: “Scott’s life was tragically and suddenly cut too short. This shook all his family and friends to their core. He meant so much to so many – a son, a brother, an uncle, a lover and a father.

“Scott’s personality was delightful and his laugh was infectious. He was always the first to help anyone, had the biggest heart and cared so much.

The family of Scott Smythe, 33, have paid tribute to the son, brother, uncle, boyfriend and father who “meant so much to us” after he died in a crash in Rawnsley Road, Hednesford.

“Scott will always be loved by his family and at this time we will share fond memories of him and his life and he will always be with us, showing us the way. You will always be loved unconditionally by all of us, Scott.

“We kindly ask that our privacy be respected so we can process and grieve the loss of our loved one.”
