Burglary scam by rogue traders in Birmingham prompts police to launch CCTV appeal

A rogue trader knocked on a door at an address in Birmingham and tricked a householder before stealing money from them. The incident happened near Garretts Green Lane in Yardley on or around Tuesday, June 18, according to police.

A man pretended to be a roofer and convinced the householder to hand over cash for work that was never done. Now West Midlands Police have released an image of a man officers would like to speak to in connection with the incident.




The man is white with short brown hair and a black cap with writing on it. He also wears a dark top, possibly a t-shirt.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We want to speak to this man in relation to a burglary in Birmingham. A resident was approached by a man claiming to be a roofer and persuaded to hand over cash for work that was not done.

“It happened near Garretts Green Lane, Yardley, around June 18. Anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website or by calling 101 quoting 20/584243/24.”
