A new plan to tackle anti-social behavior and crime in Coventry

Coventry residents are being encouraged to take part in a consultation which will shape how the police and council tackle anti-social behavior and crime.

Coventry Community Safety Partnership (CSP) has carried out a crime survey which will help shape the city’s next Community Safety Partnership Plan for 2024-27.

The partnership is asking the public and stakeholders to comment on the crime survey, highlighting concerns in the neighborhoods they live in and their experiences in the city.

Police and crime commission chairman Council Abdul Salam Khan said the plan was updated every few years to take residents’ views and concerns into account and that the crime survey was fundamental to how the plan looks and what priorities are identified .

β€œIt has to be driven by the views and experiences of local people. Whether it’s e-bikes causing danger in the city centre, off-road bikes in public parks, cases of fly-tipping or drug abuse concerns. Where we can coordinate a partnership response, we will take steps to work together and tackle the problem.

“There are many other examples where we have listened to public concerns and, whatever the issue, we want to work together with other services and with residents to help get action together that works.”

CSPs are the statutory body that brings together local partners to tackle common problems of crime and disorder, anti-social behavior (ASB), drug and alcohol misuse and re-offending. Coventry PSC meets as the Policing and Crime Board (PCB) and is chaired by the Council.

The consultation takes place in August and September to allow stakeholders, residents, businesses and young people and older people to have a say in the survey.
