Leeds United were briefly linked with a move to sign Harrison Burrows from Peterborough this week, but links were then scaled back as the left-back moved to Sheffield United.

Daniel Farke’s side are in a much stronger position as things stand ahead of the 24/25 season than they were a year ago, with turmoil reigning in the transfer window.

The depth is much stronger at this point than it was this time last year, with more signings hopefully on the way to round out the squad.

Harrison Burrows has ruled out Leeds United as a transfer target

Tuesday was an interesting day in the growing transfer scene at Elland Road, with online chatter surrounding left-back Harrison Burrows.

It was sparked by Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony, who appeared on talkSPORT and fanned the flames over where the talented left-back will play this season, unprompted stating that Leeds have done good business with heavily linked Sheffield United, while four other clubs bid. for the defender.

However, after Leeds fans went into a frenzy, the Yorkshire Evening Post poured cold water on the links, saying that Leeds were not one of the clubs that submitted a bid for the League One club.

Do Leeds have the best full-back pairing in the league?

Leeds look thin on the ground at full-back at the moment

When looking at the starting full-backs, Jayden Bogle and Junior Firpo on the right and left are as good as anything in the league.

Farke’s concern is that Firpo, on the left, never managed to shake off his injury problems while at Leeds and was vital to the team’s results in 2024.

Losing him for a decent amount of time this season would be a major blow, and one that it’s hard to see Sam Byram being able to replicate his third impact.

It would have been hard to see Burrows start at Leeds, but any promotion needs cover for key positions, including at full-back, where he would have seen plenty of game time.

It remains to be seen how Leeds deal with Byram being the only back-up defender, but it is a dangerous game with only three defenders in the entire squad.
