Brent Berry Food Drive and Rockingham County Fair team up for free tickets to the fair

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – The organizer behind the annual Brent Berry Food Drive is announcing a new summer effort to beat hunger in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.

During an awards ceremony last night, Bucky Berry told Rocktown Now that the food drive and the Rockingham County Fair are teaming up to offer a sweet deal.

“He has a big way to go in July. How it will work, if you buy a $10 bag of food from Bridgewater Foods for the entire month of July, from July 1st to July 31st, you will receive two Rockingham County Fair tickets to enter the fair. You spend $10, you get $18 in return.”

Of course, all donated food goes directly to the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Salvation Army — which honored Berry last night with a service award for the continued success of its annual food drive.

In 16 years, the initiative has raised more than two million dollars to put food on local tables.
