Manchester United handed Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro double against Arsenal

Manchester United received a double injury problem with the new Premier League season in sight after Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro were forced off during their pre-season clash with Arsenal. Former Atalanta 21-year-old Hojlund opened the scoring at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

However, the Denmark international was taken off shortly afterwards as a precaution. Hojlund went down with some pain, but was deemed fit enough to walk off the field and down unaided.

Hojlund put United in front with a blistering run and finished. He latched on to a long ball in California before slotting home his first goal of the pre-season, but it wasn’t all good news.

Displaced midfielder Hannibal Mejbri replaced Hojlund and was sent on as a false nine by Erik ten Hag when he entered the fray. Gabriel Jesus equalized for the Gunners minutes after Hojlund was hauled off to make it 1-1, and Yoro soon followed Hojlund back into the dressing room – compounding concerns for United.

United will share an update on Hojlund and Yoro after the final whistle. However, while the decision to replace them was a precautionary measure, at the time there were just 13 days left before Ten Hag and his players got down to business in their first competitive game of the season – the Community Shield.

Manchester City are their opponents at Wembley on Saturday 10th August. Before then, United have two more pre-season friendlies in the United States – against Real Betis and rivals Liverpool – as they continue to fine-tune their preparations for the upcoming Premier League fixture.
