EastEnders legend Shaun Williamson says he would love to join Emmerdale as he eyes role in soap

An EastEnders legend has told us he would love to join Emmerdale.

We all know Soapland is a small place with stars moving between shows. A Walford icon following a stint in Emmerdale is Shaun Williamson, 58, AKA Barry from EastEnders.




Appearing at Tramlines Festival on Friday with Barrioke’s show, we caught up with the star backstage. He told us about his love for Sheffield and Yorkshire.

With that in mind, we asked him if he would ever consider a spell on ITV soap Emmerdale. Shaun replied: “I would love to. People ask me if I would ever go back to soap.

“I don’t think I’d go back to one for 10 years, but I love Emmerdale. I would skip it. If the casting director is listening. I might have to wait until Barrioke is done.

Barrioke sees audience members signing up to sing alongside the icon. On Friday, part of the audience took to the stage with Shaun for renditions of Simply The Best and Never Gonna Give You Up.
