“Terror kidnapping attempt as woman chased and grabbed by man”

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping after a woman was chased and caught in a West Midlands village. The incident happened in the Staffordshire village of Wombourne, near the border of Dudley and Wolverhampton, on Friday, May 3.

The woman resisted the man and the attacker left, Staffordshire Police said. She was initially chased along Station Road before being caught on Bull Meadow Lane, with officers alerted to the scene at 11pm that day.




A 35-year-old man from West Bromwich has been arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping and remains in custody, police said. Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and anyone who may have CCTV footage to come forward.

A spokesman for the force said: “A man has been arrested following an attack in Wombourne on Friday 3 May.

“We were called just after 11pm after a woman was chased along Station Road and then grabbed when she reached Bull Meadow Lane. She resisted and the man left.

“A 35-year-old man from West Bromwich has been arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping. He will be questioned in custody.
