Leeds United have received transfer guidance they hope to ignore this summer with key moves in May

The transfer guidance Leeds United will hope to ignore this summer has been released by the EFL in the form of figures for next season. The Whites are in the midst of a play-off campaign, hoping to see them registered as a Premier League side from May 27, the day after the play-off final at Wembley.

On Thursday, Leeds welcome Norwich City to Elland Road for the second leg of their play-off semi-final. The teams played out a 0-0 draw in the first leg at Carrow Road on Sunday, with United keeping only their second clean sheet in nine outings.

If the Whites fail to get over the line on Thursday or at Wembley a week on Sunday, their summer window will officially open on June 14 as an EFL outfit. Whether Leeds get promoted or not, it’s expected to be another busy summer for Daniel Farke and the club’s management.

Another season in the second tier would see rich vultures circling Leeds’ best talent and Farke’s side keen to cut their canvas accordingly without top-flight income. That would also mean the German having to rebuild his squad, with the help of Gretar Steinsson and Nick Hammond, into another promotion contender on an even tighter budget.

That deal, as a Championship club, should be completed by 11pm on Friday, August 30, when the window closes for EFL sides. The figures for the top clubs Leeds are likely to deal with in the summer have yet to be released for the window.

The EFL winter transfer window would open on January 1, 2025, but then run until February next year. Clubs will be able to trade until 11pm on Monday 3 February.
