Live: Lanes of the M5 have been closed after a crash near Bristol involving a traffic building

There are traffic delays on the M5 following an accident near Bristol this afternoon (Sunday 28 July). According to traffic monitoring website Inrix, two lanes are closed northbound on Avonmouth Bridge.

The accident happened between junction 19 for Portishead and junction 18 for the M49 junction.




It was first reported at 12.38pm and traffic is now building up on the motorway.

Inrix says: “Traffic backed up and two lanes closed due to an accident on the M5 Avonmouth bridge northbound between J19 A369 Martcombe Road (Portishead) and J18 (M49 interchange). Traffic is slow on the opposite side because of onlookers.”
