The Sporting striker is coming off a superb campaign in which his 43 goals in 49 games helped the Portuguese to the title.

Of course, that has clubs interested in signing him. Gyokeres, who thrived at Coventry before signing for Sporting, is a target for both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

That said, the player himself believes the club value him too much – and are therefore pulling him out of a summer move.

“I know in today’s market (high prices) it’s going to happen,” Van den Berg told the Liverpool Echo. “For the price they want for me, hmmm…Liverpool can think it’s fair because I’ve had a good season.”
