Bringing Business Experience as Mayor: Brent VanNorman

The City of Tulsa’s 2024-2025 budget exceeds $1 billion, supporting approximately 3,500 employees. Unlike Oklahoma City, Tulsa does not have a city manager who traditionally serves as the city’s CEO.

In Tulsa, the mayor takes on this essential role.

As the only mayoral candidate with substantial executive experience, I bring a unique blend of skills. My undergraduate studies in accounting and computer science laid the foundation for nearly nine years of systems consulting work at a national CPA firm serving small and medium-sized businesses.

In addition, my 13-year tenure as a patent attorney in an international law firm focused on complex patent litigation sharpened my problem-solving skills.

Additionally, I have held executive leadership positions in various industries, including a large title insurance company, an impact investment fund, and a software company. My leadership experience includes team dynamics, budget management, process streamlining, overseeing mergers and acquisitions, and negotiating contracts with cities of various sizes.

I am confident that these combined experiences position me to lead Tulsa to positive results.

On a personal note, I have been married to my wife, Marsha, for over 41 years. We have two children and three grandchildren and we love spending time with them.

As a political outsider, I offer new perspectives. To propel Tulsa to new heights, we need courage and a departure from the status quo. My vision includes fostering a City Hall culture that prioritizes citizens as valued customers. I am committed to supporting business growth, enhancing neighborhood safety, and working with educational leaders to elevate our public schools.

Together, we can embrace a brighter future for Tulsa.
